Head lice are the annoyance of every mothers existence, many children come home with head lice infestation have treatment to rid infestation to find their child becomes infested a few weeks later.

There are a lot of treatments on the market to combat head lice infestations. Some treatments are available from the local pharmacy, some have to be prescribed from the doctor and some are alternative medicines that can be found on the Internet, but there is one treatment that may seem strange to some but not strange to others.

What is this strange treatment? Completely shaving the head. Now to some this really doesn't sound like a strange treatment, but some will find this a very excessive form of treatment.

To start you will need a set of clippers and a razor, as scissors will not reduce the hair to a short enough level. If you are carrying out the treatment yourself then you will need a few mirrors to be able to see all sides of your head.

Next you need to use the clippers, without any attachments, to reduce your hair down to the shortest possible amount. This will not clear all the head lice, as some will still be present on the head.

After using the clippers to cut your hair down to a very short size, you then need to use the razor to shave your head and neck so there is no hair left on the head. By shaving you head it should not only remove the hair but also any lice that remain.

Once the head is clear of any hair you will need to wash your head with shampoo, this means rubbing the shampoo into the scalp before washing it off, this will remove any loose hairs to be washed away as well as any lice that may have escaped the previous treatments and any dead skin on the scalp. If you feel that there may be some hairs remaining then wash your head again with shampoo.

    Summary of the treatment

Okay so now some of you are sitting at home reading this, thinking this is taking treatment too far, especially the ladies who have long flowing hair, but this treatment does work.

Medical professionals have not approved this treatment yet. The medical community always takes time before approving a treatment, as they like to make sure each and every treatment achieves what it claims to do, but in time this will be seen as a possible solution to head lice infestation.

As the bold look is seen as fashionable for men in the present day, some mothers have took the initiative and given their sons the look that people like David Beckham have sported as a fashion statement. This gives mothers piece of mind knowing that their young son is fashionable at school, and wont come home with another head lice infestation.

Overall this treatment may be controversial, but in time you may see this treatment as a medically proven treatment in the fight against head lice.
